Hi, I have white snowboard bindings from a few years back that are discoloring and starting to yellow a bit.  Are there any safe methods to restore the bindings to white?  Thanks!

1.Accept the yellow.
2.Call them 'hypercolor bindings'.
3. Make tons of money selling them.

go pick up some rit dye and dye the white plastic parts some other darker color... your options are pretty limitless.  Super easy and you can dye different parts different colors to mix and match.

I'm assuming using diluted bleach won't work or won't be safe?

Depends on why they are yellowing.  My guess is, you have yellow plastic starting to break down.  I think the bleach will actually dissolve (or stain) some of the yellow, but may also hurt the integraty of the plastic.
I know alcohol will degrade the plastic, so don't use that either.  And keep your bindings out of the sunlight unless you're riding.

What about using white shoe cleaning kits?  But I think best bet would be painting it.

White bindings that are not washed after usage from the snow will grime up the plastic, considering you ride it all day in the blazing hot sun,the material of the bindings is going get oxidize by the weather and discolor over time by age turning into yellow stain coffee/smokers teeth.Bleaching it might just make it worse.I have a pair of white bindings from 3 seasons ago first bought them white ,now there just a pale yellow white color,i would suggest just using light soap with water to clean them without using any harsh dissolving cleaners that will tarnish the material.

I heard this product called Sea Glow works on yellowing of shoes. Sneaker heads use it to restore their J's.

okay, i done this this to a few jeeps that had the plastic fenders that were fading. take a heat gun and hold it about a foot away from the binding, thatll melt the plastic, be sure to keep it in constant motion moving back and forth over the binding. the binding should come out white, although you probably wont get that glossy look you once had. make sure they dont mean much to you, because you could mess up, or it might not come out like it supposed to... ive never done it to bindings because i buy colored or black bindings.

I don't know about paint but as far as prepping for paint. Have you consider using a high grade sand paper? Since bindings have many differ curves and small spots sand paper will get to just any nicks and cracks.

I definitely wouldnt recommend bleach..
From what I know, the yellowing is the degrading of the surface of the plastic material like someone else said, so I dont think scrubbing it with soap would really work that well..
If I were you I would spray paint them white. Or spray paint them with crazy colours!!
With the straps, there will probably be hope for restoration.
If its got leather parts, clean with leather-specific cleaner like shoe cleaners
If its fabric, maybe you could try hand washing with mild detergent? Take them off the binding first of course though.
For the strap ladders itll probably be the same case as the binding body.. degrading of the material from exposure to the elements. Either try spray paint them as well (I think the paint will come off faster on these though) or just get some new ones, you should be able to buy some off most binding companies

Certainly your best option in terms of maintaining the integrity of the binding. As has been said, the yellowing is not your binding getting dirty but an actual change in the material itself. You can't "clean" that out.

I love this- just melt it. Me thinks AJD13 is a greasemonkey, for sure.
